The recently renovated Guggisberg Swiss Inn delivers an authentic experience. The 24-room inn is replete with an Amish riding stable and the award-winning Guissberg Winery, centrally located in the heart of Amish Country. The rolling hills and lush Doughty Valley make an attractive wedding venue and year-round getaway. All accommodations include free Wi-Fi and flat screen TVs.
Located in Millersburg, the heart of Amish Country, Guggisberg Swiss Inn never has to go out of its way to deliver an authentic experience.
Outside the Amish riding stable the horses roam free, and guests can saddle up for intimate guided trail rides, limited to two to four riders, open to all levels of experience.
Barring inclement weather, the horses graze in full view of Guggisberg Swiss Inn’s 24 rooms, which guests might come to recognize.
The labels of the Doughty Glen Winery, established in 2013, depict the likeness of each horse that each of the nine awarding-winning wines is named for, including Sizzle, a dry, tangy wine made from raspberries grown on the grounds. The wine’s namesake is known for giving guests playful raspberries. Sizzle (the wine) won double gold at the 2016 Ohio Wine Competition and took home gold for the Fruit Wine Best in Show in 2018.
Sizzle pairs well with baby Swiss. The recipe for the cheese known the world over originated with Eric Guggisberg’s grandfather. He owns Guggisberg Swiss Inn with his wife, Julia Guggisberg. Guggisberg Cheese is a half-mile down the road.
Centrally located, the rural inn is a mile-and-a-half from Charm, four miles from Berlin, and six miles from Walnut Creek. Guests can avail themselves of everything Amish Country has to offer. If they prefer, there’s no need for guests to go out.
From March through November, every Friday night there’s live entertainment, and every morning there’s an authentic Amish home-cooked breakfast waiting for guests of the Guggisberg Swiss Inn.
