The Ashery has such an incredible variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, deli, baked goods, original Ashery snack mixes, cooking and baking products, a gigantic spice rack, flowers and more.

What is bumbleberry jam? How long is Sharp Swiss aged? Which flour is gluten-free?

What is nice about a trip to Ashery Country Store Bulk Foods is that these unanswered queries aren’t unanswered for long. With a courteous and knowledgeable staff and all kinds of available shopping options, all a customer has to do is ask and the answer to their questions will be forthcoming.

At the Ashery the obvious joy of seeing such an incredible variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, deli, baked goods, original Ashery snack mixes, cooking and baking products, a gigantic spice rack, and of course Cecil’s frozen custard is half the fun.

However, because the Ashery goes out of its way to create a down-home feeling of family and friendliness, the staff is willing and able to answer questions about all of the products available. They won’t simply turn a customer loose and let them wonder whether they should invest in sprouted whole wheat flour or whether or not they can freeze butter. (You can.)

From day one when Cecil Yoder owned and operated Ashery Country Store Bulk Foods when he started the business in 1979, he made a commitment that each visit for every single patron would be a positive experience, thanks to his genuine, friendly disposition that put people at ease, a concept the Ashery maintains today.

“We’re built on that concept,” second-generation owner Curt Yoder said. “Dad connected so well with his customers, and he was all about finding out what they wanted and how to serve them well. That defines our staff today.”

For the Ashery staff, it is about making a customer feel like family and making the shopping experience not just about the purchase, but also about enjoying the blessings God has given.

“At the Ashery we believe our food, our service and the way we do our work speaks a message,” Yoder said. “It is our desire that this message speaks of the goodness of God and what he has provided.”

It is that investment in people and product that has helped the Ashery perfect its vision of reaching the heart of people through tasteful experiences.

That experience shines through the fresh produce, bulk food and deli, but most of all, it flows from the kindness of the staff. A visit to the Ashery in the heart of Amish Country is a perfect way to take care of your shopping needs while taking a much-needed break from the hectic pace of life.

And just so you know, bumbleberry jam is a mix of strawberries, blueberries and red raspberries; Sharp Swiss is aged nine to 12 months; and the Ashery has gluten-free flour in all kinds of options.
