Amish Sugar Cream Pie


Straight out of Grandma Fannie's recipe box!


  • 1 pre-baked 9 inch pie crust
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup butter, cubed
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in milk until smooth.
  3. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes or until thickened and bubbly.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla.
  5. Transfer to crust; sprinkle with cinnamon.
  6. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack; refrigerate until chilled. Yield: 8 servings.
  7. Note: Granny makes her own pie crust, but you can use a store-bought crust if you like. Enjoy!
